World’s Biggest Celebration of Creativity in Communications
Diners Club International President Eduardo Tobon awards first place winner Billy Wong for his video “Diners Club International – Club Gastronomy” at the MOFILM awards event at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
Thousands of members from the global creative communications industries come together each year to be inspired and educated at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. It is one of the biggest celebrations of creativity in communications in all its forms, with over 10,000 delegates from 90 countries attending a packed and inspirational seven-day learning program featuring industry leaders.
This year I had the pleasure to be one of them as the Diners Club International® delegate for our work with MOFILM, a company that inspires filmmakers to create innovative videos for big brands and social causes. How? MOFILM runs multiple major video competitions every year, offering substantial monetary prizes to filmmakers plus the chance to travel to unforgettable destinations around the world as incentives for producing engaging content.
This year was a significant anniversary as MOFILM’s fifth year running an event during the festival and the sixtieth year of Cannes Lions taking place. Over 100 people were in attendance with MOFILM for the beachside award ceremony, including Joe Tripodi, Chief Marketing Officer of Coca-Cola, and Bob Garfield, author of Don’t Buy Me Like.
The 30 MOFILM filmmakers who created winning films for nine different global brands, including Diners Club, also attended. They hail from places around the world including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, New Zealand, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States.
As our second MOFILM contest, we asked filmmakers to showcase special clubs worldwide and what it means to belong. Diners Club received many inspirational submissions, from which five particularly worthy finalists were selected as our contest winners.
