Viva Latin America’s Best Restaurants 2015
All eyes in the culinary world were on Mexico City last week, which celebrated the region’s best chefs and restaurants at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015 on September 23, 2015 at the historic San Ildefonso.
For the second year running, Central in Lima, Peru, was crowned as the No. 1 restaurant in Latin America. We were especially honored to present The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award to 39-year-old Enrique Olvera, who heads up Pujol in Mexico City and Cosme in New York City.
For the last 15 years, Olvera has made a vital contribution to the popularity of authentic Mexican cuisine through his contemporary menus and innovative dishes. Pujol ranked at No. 9 on this year’s list, adding to the many accolades achieved by this inspiring young chef.
As the Official Credit Card Sponsor of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, Diners Club, in partnership with Pujol’s very own Chef Pancho Ibañez and team, welcomed the evening’s guests with two different gourmet tamale dishes at our very own pop-up tamale stand. Diners Club also gained a behind-the-scenes look into Pujol’s kitchen while in Mexico City. Chef Olvera’s team showed us the ingredients and techniques that go into Pujol’s renowned 660-day-old ‘Mole Madre’ sauce.
