Sparkasse Pay introduces a new credit card combining the best of Diners Club International® and Mastercard
February 05, 2026 – At the beginning of the year, Sparkasse Pay introduced a new credit card to the Slovenian market, bringing a unique combination of benefits, global acceptance, and advanced payment solutions.
The new co-badge card represents an important milestone in the development of payment services in Slovenia, as it enables users to use a single card at Diners Club International and Mastercard acceptance points both in Slovenia and worldwide, while retaining the key benefits that users already know and value. In the second half of 2025, Sparkasse Pay began to gradually replace their existing portfolio of cards with the new product.
Among its standout features, the new card provides two separate spending limits: one for everyday purchases and another for instalment payments, representing a unique solution on the market. Cardholders can make instalment purchases in Slovenia, internationally, and online. Additional benefits include the D-Tuesday discount loyalty programme, access for Diners Club® Members to more than 1,700 airport lounges and experiences worldwide1, and fast-track airport services. Enhanced online shopping security is also available to all users.
The launch of the new card took place at an exclusive business event in Ljubljana, intended for key stakeholders, creators, and the media. The event was designed to go beyond a traditional product presentation and, through a carefully crafted concept, highlight the core message of the new card: the creation of a single, comprehensive, and modern solution.
The event concept was based on the idea of harmony between tradition and innovation, classic and modern, proven and new. This message was reflected throughout the entire experience, from the program and culinary elements to artistic interpretations. A concise yet content-rich official segment of the event was complemented by an artistic representation of the merging of two worlds, along with a clear presentation of the key benefits of the new card. Together, these elements marked a crucial milestone for Sparkasse Pay as we embrace a new era of development of the company.
An important part of the event was a roundtable discussion dedicated to an in-depth conversation about the background of the new credit card’s development and the broader evolution of payment solutions. The discussion featured Rok Perkovič, Director of Sparkasse Pay; Tomaž Šalamon, President of the Management Board of Sparkasse Bank; Will Cross, Diners Club International; and Luka Gabrovšek, Director of Mastercard Slovenia.
The speakers shed light on the co-creation process of the card—from strategic vision and understanding user needs to concrete product implementation—and discussed global trends in payments, digitalization, and the role of partnerships in the development of modern financial solutions.
“The future of payments lies in connectivity—technology, user experience, and trust. The new card is an example of how, with a clear forward-looking vision, we can go beyond traditional financial service frameworks and offer users solutions that are ready for the future,” emphasized Rok Perkovič, Director of Sparkasse Pay.

“At Mastercard, we view payments as part of a broader ecosystem. This partnership is a strategic example of how we successfully connect global trends, standards, and innovations with local needs and jointly create long-term value for the market,” added Luka Gabrovšek, Director of Mastercard Slovenia.

“This strategic alliance is pivotal moment for our longstanding relationship with Sparkasse that will serve our cardholders in Slovenia through access to innovative payments solutions,” added Will Cross, director of business development at Diners Club International.
With this initiative, Sparkasse Pay and Diners Club, in cooperation with the Mastercard brand, are not merely introducing a new payment product, but are building a story about the future of payments—one that builds on tradition, connects global and local dimensions, and offers users greater flexibility, security, and accessibility.
The new credit card confirms Sparkasse Pay’s commitment to developing innovative, user-friendly financial solutions and strengthens the company’s position as an important player in the field of modern payment services in Slovenia.
