Experience the Beauty and Luxury of Seoul

Bowl of Chueotang – Perfect for Winter in Seoul

Winter in Seoul is bitterly cold yet beautiful with snow-covered mountains and parks creating a romantic ambiance. From skiing to ice skating in an outdoor rink, to hanging out in an indoor theme park or relaxing at a sauna, Seoul offers an abundance of all-ages attractions. In hyper-modern Seoul, pop culture and department stores coalesce with Buddhist temples and open-air markets. Due to its long history of settlement (over 2,000 years), Seoul is home to several historic sites, including four UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Changdeokgung Palace Complex and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty. Book your flight to Seoul this winter to experience an intoxicating blend of tradition, technology, a stunning natural environment and amazing Korean cuisine. Check out Diners Club Privileges after you arrive by downloading the Diners Club Travel Tools app.

Start your winter tour of Seoul by flying to Incheon Airport and after your flight; enjoy a relaxing break at the Asiana Business Lounge. Next, take the nonstop Airport Railroad Express (AREX) that brings you to downtown Seoul in approximately 43 minutes. Once in the heart of the city, hit the Seoul Plaza Ice Skate Rink (Open until February 9, 2016) at City Hall, an outdoor skating rink that features training sessions in addition to beginner and advanced rinks. After enjoying your skate at City Hall, head to Kwangjang Market, where you can grab a bite at one of several restaurants or go shopping for clothing, mother-of-pearl or the city’s most famous silk, satin and linen bed-sheets.

If you prefer street food, head to Namdaemn Market where thousands of shops are located, as well as dozens of food stalls. Try mandu-guk (dumpling soup) or bindae duk (mung bean pancake) and for more shopping, go across the street to Shinsegae, one of the city’s big three department stores, where you’ll find everything from kimchi to Hermes silk scarves. Walk off your lunch at Namsam Tower or Cheongyecheon stream and visit the world’s largest indoor theme park, Lotte World, to choose from themed rides, water tunnels and viewing marine life in this 3-in-1 adventure park.

Other must-dos for winter in Korea include visiting a Korean sauna or hot springs and hiking in Bukhansan National Park, where you’ll find hiking trails through the rocky terrain of valleys and peaks. For skiing and snowboarding, check out popular nearby resorts:  Jisan Forest Resort, Daemyung Vivaldi Park and Phoenix Park.
